Privacy

What we collect and what we do with it.

This policy covers certamer.com and app.certamer.com, both operated by Certamer. We sell to businesses, so most of what we hold is business information — but some of it identifies you personally, and this explains what happens to it.

01 / What we collect

What we collect, and why

Application and account data: your name, business email, company name, company website, business type, stated research use, and optionally an EIN. We collect this to verify that you are a business eligible to buy from us. Verification is the entire basis of our account model, so we cannot open an account without it.

Order data: what you ordered, quantities, packaging selections, shipping address, purchase order references, and the lot numbers allocated to you. We retain this because lot traceability is a documentation obligation, not a marketing convenience.

Authentication data: your password, stored only as a salted scrypt hash. We cannot read your password and cannot recover it for you.

Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps, collected by our hosting provider in ordinary server logs.

02 / Cookies

Cookies and advertising

We set a session cookie when you log in. It is strictly necessary — without it the site cannot tell one request from another, and you cannot stay signed in.

We also use Google Ads conversion tracking on certamer.com and app.certamer.com. It sets cookies that let Google attribute an account application back to an advertisement, so we can tell which advertising is worth paying for. These cookies identify a browser, not a person, and we do not use them to build profiles or to retarget you across unrelated sites.

You can block or delete these cookies in your browser without losing access to your account, and you can opt out of Google’s advertising cookies directly at google.com/settings/ads. Blocking the strictly necessary session cookie will prevent you from logging in.

03 / Sharing

Who else sees your data

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers for their own purposes.

We use service providers who process data on our behalf: Vercel (website and application hosting), Neon (database), and Google (advertising measurement). Each is bound by its own terms to process the data only for the service it provides to us.

We share shipping details with the carrier that delivers your order, because otherwise it cannot arrive.

We will disclose information where we are legally required to — a subpoena, a court order, or a regulatory request we are obliged to answer.

04 / Retention

How long we keep it

Order and lot-allocation records are retained for seven years because they form the traceability chain behind every certificate of analysis we issue.

Account data is retained while your account is active, and for seven years after it closes.

Declined applications are retained for 12 months so that we can explain a decision if you ask, and then deleted.

05 / Your rights

Your rights over your data

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. Deletion requests are honoured except where a record is part of the traceability chain behind a shipped lot, which we are obliged to retain.

If you are a California resident, the CCPA and CPRA give you these rights explicitly, plus the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law.

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you additionally have the right to object to processing, to request portability, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these, email support@certamer.com. We respond within 30 days.

06 / Security

How we protect it

Traffic to and from our sites is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Access to production data is limited to people who need it to operate the business.

No system is invulnerable, and we will not claim otherwise. If a breach affects your personal information we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

07 / Changes

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects how we handle data you have already given us, notify account holders by email.
